Hanoi Countryside Day Tour : Farming, Fishing and Cooking tour with bike

Explore the real rural Hanoi by spending a day with local family to get involved into their day to day activities

You will be collected from your Hanoi hotel and head out of the city just after breakfast. After a short drive we reach a local village from where it is a quick walk to your host’s welcoming home. Here you will get to meet one of the farmers from the area and have a chat about their day to day activities whilst enjoying some of the delicious local tea and tasty fruit. Then you will get kitted out in your work clothes and head off to help out in a rice paddy. Make sure you get a picture of yourself wearing the traditional hat and attire typical of the region. Now you can take a walk around the settlement, taking in the atmosphere and perhaps chatting to some locals. Your guide will give you an overview of the rice plantations and how they are cultivated before you begin your chores – depending on what the farmer needs you will be helping out perhaps with ploughing or maybe planting some of the baby rice in the fields.

Once you have done that you will get to take a turn at fishing in the way locals have been for generations. Using a net or even your own hands you will learn how this activity is done by local fishermen. This is a hand on and fun activity and you will also get to try to steer the traditional boats used in Vietnam.

Your next outdoor activity involves preparing the soil with a local in preparation for sewing. This will be dependent on the season and will give you the opportunity to chat more with some of the locals as you go. On your way back to your accommodation your guide will give you a few words and phrases that you can try using when we go shopping!

With your new language skills on board you will take a short walk to the market where you can shop for ingredients which you will be using when you help prepare lunch you’ll soon get the hang of communicating with the locals amongst the produce, and it’s definitely something you don’t want to miss. Make sure you snap some photos as you go for your photo album!

On return to the homestay you will help out with preparing the lunch meal with your fresh vegetables and learn a little about traditional cooking. You’ll prepare with your guide a delicious meal that can be enjoyed by your host’s family and yourself as you talk about your day.

Once you have eaten your fill you will be able to take a bike ride around the local area, snapping photos of the beautiful scenery along the way. After that, we take a car back to your hotel in Hanoi and this rural Hanoi countryside day tour concludes
