Brief itinerary
Day 1
Hotel Pick-Up and transfer to Khanh Village – Begin Cycling – Lunch in Mai Chau Village – Continue Cycling – Dinner and Entertainment at Homestay
Day 2
Breakfast – Transfer to Moc Chau – Cycling – Visit Tea Plantations and Dairy Farm – Lunch in Local Restaurant – Cycle Full Circle to Moc Chau – Dinner and choice of Hotel or Homestay
Day 3
Traditional Breakfast –Transfer to Dong Bang Intersection – Cycle to HoaBinh Hydropower Reservoir – Lunch in Local Village –Choice of Cycling, Kayaking or Relaxing – Transfer to Hotel in Hanoi
Your local guide and driver will meet you after breakfast and drive you up the beautiful mountainous region, known as the HoaBinh province, to Khanh Village where you will strap on your helmet and start peddling. The first hour ride will pass through the hills that the White Thai, Muong and Dao hill tribes call home. Lunch will be prepared with local food varieties and served in a traditional house on stilts.
The route to Mai Chau offers superb views overlooking a lush green valley dotted with stilt houses made from palm leaves and bamboo. The guide will lead you down off –road tracks through the countryside and explain the history, culture, and local way-of-life.
Dinner that evening will be prepared by your homestay host in a traditional stilt house. You will be invited to see a song and dance show performed by the local ethnic villagers.
Day 1 : 20 kilometers ( 12.5 miles) biking up challenge slopes,
After a provincial breakfast you and the bikes will be transferred to the Moc Chau entrance gate for the next leg of your bike tour. The surrounding bike trails are set among misty tea plantations and pass along thriving dairy farms. You will have the opportunity to stop and try the local teas and even pick fruit from trees that are arm’s reach from the path.
The friendly locals in the Thai and H’Mong Villages will communicate with the help of your guide and show you how their people have lived here for many generations.
The tour will circle back to Moc Chau town where you will have dinner and an option of staying in a hotel or a homestay.
Day 2 : Biking 25 kilometers (15.6 miles) on flat land
Begin the morning with breakfast and possibly try hot milk from a local cow, a Moc Chau favorite, then take a drive up to your starting point. Your pedal-powered tour will start at the Dong Bang intersection then follow a lesser-known trail with panoramic views down to Vietnam’s largest man-made water reserve, The HoaBinh Hydropower Reservoir.
Lunch will be in a village set beside the reservoir where you can see the flood gates opened from the safety of the viewing platform.
Hundreds of islands have been created by the formation of the lake and it is the perfect place to hop into a kayak and go exploring or you can spend the afternoon visiting the villages that make their home on this spectacular lake’s banks.
In the late afternoon, your guide and driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Hanoi.
Day 3 : Biking 10 kilometers (6 miles) , mainly mostly downhill terrain.
