Off the beaten track in Mai Chau and Pu Luong nature reserve– 4 day tour

Day 1: From Hanoi to Hang via Mai Chau

Included: Lunch, Dinner

You will be collected early in the morning and be transported along route 6 to Mai Chau, several hours from Hanoi. This area is simply stunning, and you will have plenty of opportunity for photographs as you pass farms and mountain scenery. Your guide will happily stop on the way to let you take in the breathtaking views. At midday we will stop and have lunch in a nearby village.

After some delicious food you will continue on your journey and stop off to stretch your legs near the Ma River. Here you will have the chance to take a relaxing boat tour along the water, then hike onward along farmland and through hamlets for about 3 hours. As you go, take in the lush scenery whilst learning a bit more about the Thai culture local to this area.

This evening, have dinner in the settlement of Hang before getting a good night’s rest in a local home.

Enjoy the night stay in a local house in Hang Village.

Day 2: From Hang Village to Kho Muong via Eo Ken

Included: lunch, dinner

This morning, why not rise early and wander at leisure through the village before enjoying a delicious traditional breakfast with your hosts. Today we have a long trek ahead of us and we begin the hike to Eo Ken village then onward to Kho Muong.

Today’s activities will take about 6 hours in total. This morning’s hike will take a bit of effort, as there are some hilly inclines and rural terrain. As we continue you will however be rewarded with stunning scenery and lush rainforests. For lunch, stop off at Eo Ken and eat a relaxed meal outdoors. After you have rested a bit you will continue on to Kho Muong, a charming settlement situated in between towering mountains. Tonight you will again stay with a local family.

Day 3: From Kho to Hin via Nua

Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Start your day with a big breakfast – we will be trekking all day and you need your energy! As we head out of Kho Muong you will be confronted with difficult terrain – hilly inclines and rivers that need to be crossed. As you hike onward your guide will lead you to visit a pretty cave, before you head on through the rainforests deep into the reserve.

We will stop at the settlement of Nua where you can take a refreshing break at the stream before having lunch and a short rest. Once you have regained your energy we continue to the settlement of Hin – home to the Thai ethnic group – which will be your final stop for the day. Here, enjoy dinner with locals and learn more about their day to day lives before hitting the sack for some well needed rest.

Day 4: From Hin Village through the Reserve and back to Hanoi

Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Say goodbye to your friendly hosts and begin a hike up into the mountains. It’s not a hike for the faint-hearted, however you will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views and a refreshing breeze. Finally, we stop for lunch before making a final stroll to the settlement of Ton where the return transfer will be ready for you for the journey back to Hanoi to conclude this Pu Luong off the beaten track 4 days adventure
