Discovering amazing Phong Nha National Park with overnight in a homestay – 3 days

Day 1: Dong Hoi – Phong Nha

Your local tour guide will pick you up at the train station, airport, or your hotel in Dong Hoi City (Quang Binh Province) and depart for Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

The tour will start by taking you to the famous historic road No.20 that crosses the National Park from the south. Your guide will inform you about the geology, flora and fauna of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park as well as the troubled history of DMZ, which was noticeably damaged by lots of bombs during the war. You will also experience the daily life of the locals on both sides of Son River and learn about regional ethnic minorities’ culture.

When you arrive, locals will take you up the Son River to explore the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park before going to the Phong Nha Grotto. Within the UNESCO World Natural Heritage of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is the amazing grotto which is known as the second largest in Vietnam and holds geological structures formed over 500 million years. The spectacular beauty can be seen with your own eyes and create an unforgettable eco tour experience.

A three hour boat tour will take you to the Phong Nha center where lunch will be served. The boat’s trip will end back at your comfortable homestay. Enjoy dinner and entertainment from the locals before turning in for the night.

Day 2: Full day activities

An early rise will be greeted with hearty breakfast for an exciting day full of outdoor activities. The cycling tour with the local tour guide will take you to discover the National Park through paths shadowed by limestone mountains and quaint villages. A stop at the Eight Ladies Cave to burn incense and listen to a story about the local ladies’ sacrifice will then lead you to the Paradise Grotto. Here lies Asia’s longest grotto with the amazing beauty of stalactites and stalagmites. Lunch will be served at the Paradise Grotto.

Later, you will continue hiking then maybe go kayaking on crystalline Chay River and explore Dark Cave. A dip in the Chay River or Mooc Stream will cool you off after the hiking and paddling.

You will return back to your homestay before dusk and enjoy a delicious locally sourced dinner prepared with regional specialties.

Day 3: Phong Nha – Dong Hoi – Departure

In the morning you will have breakfast at the village and your car and tour guide will transfer you from your homestay to Dong Hoi City. Your guide will debrief you on the tour and answer any lingering questions you have about the people or the nature. One last stop at the local dock for a visit at the fish market and craft shop, before going to the train station, airport, or your hotel in Dong Hoi to conclude this Phong Nha 3 days tour
