You will take the train to Lao Cai and arrive at about 6am where your tour guide will meet you alongside your transport and take you on the journey to Sapa (About 60 minutes from Lao Cai). On arrival in Sapa you will be treated to breakfast in a traditional restaurant before checking into your hotel. Your guide will then take you on an interesting walking tour of Sapa, by passing the touristy areas in Cat Cat and heading on a more authentic tour. We leave the town center and head onward on off the road trails that lead into the valley near Y Linh Ho settlement. Here, in the homeland of the Black Hmongs, you will enjoy views of the valleys and rice fields below as you track a stream to the village. On arrival you will have a midday meal in the hamlet before we continue on down the hill into the Muong Hoa Valley.
This relaxing walk will have you learn more about the Black H’mong tribal group as we learn about their day to day activities, culture and way of life. You will have the chance to try your hand at some Batik painting, an endangered art form of the H’mong group. Your teacher will be one of the tribe’s experts who will guide you through this traditional textile art form. This is a good activity that not only helps you learn more about the culture and allows you to create a souvenir, but also supports the Batik art form and employment in the local area. Once we are done we take a walk to the village of Ta Van and visit the DZay tribe. Again, this is an interesting group with their own traditions and customs and they will welcome you to stay in their village, providing dinner and accommodation. Stay overnight in a local homestay of Dzay family in Ta Van village
Trek: 8km
Included: Breakfast, Lunch
Arise to the sound of local people preparing for the day ahead and eat breakfast with your host family. Next, we start the day’s activity – a leisurely hike through a forest of bamboo on the way to the settlement of Giang Ta Chai, via Seo Mi Ti village. Giang Ta Chai, where the colorfully dressed Dzao tribe live, is situated next to a brook where you will be permitted to take a dip if you fancy it, depending on the weather. The stream is particularly charming, set at the end of a beautiful waterfall under hanging trees. Once we finish here we head on to the H’Mong tribe settlement of Su Pan, where we will enjoy a delicious traditional lunch in a restaurant before we take a 60 minute trek to our awaiting transfer for the onward journey to Sapa.
