Day 1: Journey to Mai Chau

7.30am Collection from your hotel for the journey

10am Quick break to stretch your legs / refreshments

12am On arrival in Mai Chau you will be served your midday meal by locals

After lunch: Well rested, you will take a leisurely bicycle ride through the homesteads of a local tribe known as the White Thais. You will have plenty of opportunity to snap photographs of locals going about their day to day tasks. As you go, take the chance to talk with them and learn more about their culture. The ride is along gentle terrain however if you prefer you can take a small hike instead through the fields, visiting villages along the way.

In the early evening you will have the chance to help with preparing dinner with a local host. Hear about the traditional methods of cooking and learn about the ingredients used in cooking for generations. Then, sit down with your hosts and chat to them before walking to the shared accommodation in a traditional stilt house.

Day 2: Hiking off the beaten track  

Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Following a leisurely breakfast you will head out to start your hike (duration approx. three hours) that will take us to the town of Pho Doan. Your guide will organize a midday meal in a local establishment before we take a taxi to our next point of departure. Another hike of similar durations awaits us in the afternoon, through the beautiful valley and charming hamlets on the way to the Thai settlement of Hieu.  Here, you will have the chance to refresh yourself by the stream, relax and perhaps have a wander about the town chatting to those you meet on the way. Tonight, a local host family will welcome you for dinner before bed.

Day 3: Onward to Pu Luong and return to Hanoi

Enjoy breakfast with your hosts before exploring the village further which we will take a short leisurely hike to a small settlement to meet our car. We will have lunch in the town of Muong Khen before heading onward to Hanoi, where we will reach your hotel in the early evening to conclude this Mai Chau Pu Luong 3 days trip
